Sierra is now 10 months + 1 week old because I am behind as usual with my monthly updates. She had an excellent first Christmas back in Minnesota. I was lucky enough to have Christmas off and got to join them all in the tundra (that actually did warm up for me, almost near freezing for one day!)
In any case, looking back at my 9 month (and change) post from a month ago, Sierra is doing pretty similar things just more proficiently. :) Total teeth tally 4, with 2 more ready to pop through any day. She's growing a little bit more hair but certainly nothing we could clip a bow in to. She had a viral illness over the holidays but otherwise is a healthy little girl! She continues to wear a patch on her eye 1-2 hours a day to help strengthen her eye muscles (or at least make her brain use her weaker eye), and she has surgery scheduled for the beginning of March.

Her top 10 favorite things to do are:
10. Walking all over the house, repeatedly, especially up and down stairs, with a single finger of any willing and able-backed adult who is in reach. She will stand independently really well and will take 1-2 steps on her own, then gets ticked off you let go of her and she'll scream and drop to the ground.
9. Eat. Big people food only please, and a little spice is nice. She can give Thayden some competition at the dinner table with how much food she will eat. Despite this appetite we saw several Minnesota babies over the holidays who were much younger yet bigger than my petite little peanut. :)
8. Play with brother. Occasionally he will play nice with her but even when he is rough with her or plain ignoring her she still adores him. She is also much more interested in his hot wheel cars than her infant toys.
7. Screaming. Sometimes in delight other times in frustration. I KNOW Thayden did not learn this skill until around 15 months or so, but when you already have one screamer the other one learns quickly. She probably likes the attention it gets her, hopefully she gets over the fascination soon!
6. Bath time. She LOVES the bath and has no fear, but doesn't seem to have the swimming ability that Thayden has. If her face comes anywhere close to the water she takes a huge gasp in with a subsequent choking fest. That doesn't stop her from being a crazy girl in the tub with lots of splashing and bobbing her face into the water. :)
5. Hoovering. Along with defining her pincer grasp I wrote about last time she has a crazy good eye to spot any and all food or semi-food products that have found their way to the floor, and she will quickly get over to said product and inhale if not interrupted promptly. Better than a vacuum...or a house pet.
4. Cupboards and drawers and all things within. She is content exploring the tupperware cupboard (which is the only one we'll give her access to) but she would love to get her hands on more.
3. Exploring. Sierra is shy for the first few minutes in a new place or around new people, but for the most part she wants to know what's going on and how things work. Gamma's Christmas tree, animals that move, things that make noise when you bang on them, etc. She doesn't seem to like crowds and loud background noises a whole lot though...maybe she will take after her Daddy. :)
2. Cuddling. OK, maybe this is on MY top 10 list, but she humors me, and she's a good cuddler. And sleep. Oh thank-heavens we don't have another Thayden when it comes to sleeping! Sierra will often tell US she's ready for bed and she rarely fights it, and when she's asleep she usually sleeps through the night...until her blood-curdling scream between 5-6am indicating she is starving.
1. Being a busy baby. Maybe all babies are like this, my two certainly are. Sierra is usually a happy baby as long as you keep the entertainment coming and it better be more interesting than some silly toddler toys. She'll read books for a couple pages (if you're lucky), she'll listen to you sing songs for 1-2 verses, dance to some music for 30 seconds, and explore a new toy for slightly longer. She WILL be content for a long time running around the house (see #10 above), playing in Thayden's room (#8 above) and playing outside (appropriate in Denver, not so much in MN).

Troy and the kids are still in Minnesota as Troy is on vacation and the kids would have had a short week at school anyway. He has the camera with the few pics that have been taken recently, so I posted ones from earlier this month. I had to come back to work this week (including working the wards this weekend for the New Year). I will only be working for 3 weeks before we are on vacation again - hopefully going to the mountains to do some skiing and then back to MN again for my cousin's wedding.
Happy new year to everyone! Hope it is a blessed one!
