I'm nearly a month overdue for this post, but Thayden turned 5 on May 15! He is growing up so fast!
Now that he is 5 he is:
- a graduate of Knowledge Beginnings Kindergarten
- reading Level 1 and some Level 2 books
- Doing single digit addition math (anything under 10)
- a little fish and loves the pool. He tried out for the swim team (didn't quite make the team, but we were very impressed he swam a whole lap down and back!) He starts advanced swimming lessons this week.
- a multisport athlete. In addition to swimming he just got done with soccer and is currently in baseball.
- riding his bike to school every day
- a super puzzler. He can put together 100 piece puzzles in no time!
- going on field trips with his class at school every week this summer (so far to Sports Authority Field at Mile High, the Bronco's stadium, upcoming trips include the aquarium, zoo, art museum, science museum, organic farm, and some other fun spots.)
- a social butterfly. It doesn't matter if we take a bike ride to Town Center, play at any of the local parks or pools, or go to the grocery store, he will more than likely find someone he knows there.
- obsessed with this toy called "Bay Blades'. It's a spinny thing.
- getting more independence. We are comfortable with him going to play outside by himself (he usually will find a neighbor kid and either play across the street or around the house.) He does a great job of always looking both ways before crossing the street and knowing his boundaries. Today he went outside to play and it just hit me how grown up he is!!! I am so glad we live in a neighborhood where we are comfortable letting him play with his friends outside!
He got a big birthday party with his friends at Bladium Sports center where they had a bounce house special for his party. It was difficult to get pictures though.

He was very very excited to have a cake since he has not gotten any
cake-like things since he has been on his special diet. Although his
friends all got nummy Sam's club cake, I did make a special corn-free,
gluten-free cake for Thayden, and he was still very excited for it.

| T's special diet cake |
 |
| Cupcake cake from Sam's Club |
 |
| Both the cakes together |
In my opinion, it was pretty dry, but the home made whip cream and berries were pretty darn good.

 |
| All smiles - such a big boy! |

 |
| Enjoying the cake |
 |
| And wearing the cake too |
Overall the birthday party was a hit!
We have also had plenty of warm weather and sunny skies. We took a bike ride to the Stapleton Town Center, initially to go to the Sweet William Market (a craft-like market) but of course we ended up at the fountains.

| We had brought there suits but apparently it is more fun in jeans and naked top |
We finally had Sierra have her first official hair cut! Thayden showed her how to do it first.
 |
| Red and blue Mohawk |
 |
| She was pretty excited and did quite well! |
 |
| She looks a little worried but held still |
 |
| Now enjoying it a little more |
 |
| Smiles! |
 |
| My first pigtails! |
 |

My month of June is quite heavy at work - physically and emotionally draining. But we are looking forward to July, August and September when I have a lighter schedule! Hopefully much more swimming, hiking, camping, and sun!
