Sierra is now a few days older than 21 months and I think I ought to give an official update every 3 months so I'm due. ;)
Sierra has really taken off these last couple months developmentally! We just had parent-teacher conferences and of course, Sierra is doing wonderful in school as well.
Language/cognitive: She talks in sentences, knows a lot of words, and can count to 3 (then jumps to 9, 10). She can start the ABC's and a handful of other songs. She knows a lot of animals and the noises they make. She is obsessed with books. Tonight when ready "Brown Bear Brown Bear" every single page she would say the animal before I did at then make the noises and/or actions. She knows what colors are, and will usually accurately say the most common 6-7 colors. She managed to call Gamma on Troy's iphone the other week, and currently she is obsessed with FaceTime (basically skype on the iphone) with Nana or Gamma nearly daily.
Motor: She does somersaults, dances to music, crawls up my legs to do flips (and lands them with arms up!) and wrestles with Thayden. She tries to ride a trike but can't reach the pedals yet. She can crawl up anything without fear: playgrounds, furniture, counters, etc. She colors with crayons and can eat with silverware but usually prefers her hands (much to our frustration).
Self-Help: She has been potty trained for a couple months now except at night (although Troy often forgets the diaper at night too.) It is sure nice not having to worry about diapers when out and about any more! She also brushes her teeth (prior to us pinning her down to complete the job.)
Personality: Sierra is a big fashionista. She often walks around in my shoes and has wanted boots for several weeks - so on Black Friday when they were 50% off at the stride rite outlet mall we got her a pair that she loves (and a couple more she'll get for xmas). She also loves skirts/dresses/dress shoes/glitter/sparkles, but hates anything in her hair or on her head. More recently she has started to get an attitude, including talking back to Mommy and Daddy, but she responds appropriately to time outs on the steps. :) Her teacher says Sierra is always the first one to recognize when one of her friends are sad and she will quickly be over there giving hugs and asking them "you OK?" We have a pretty special girl.
She has been pretty healthy overall and her eyes have stayed mostly straight after her 2nd surgery in August. Yay! She's still petite at 22 lbs but growing! We love her lots :)
