Sierra at 15-er-so months

Occasionally I look back on my early posts when Sierra was a baby and my comments along the lines of how calm and content she was - well those days are far behind us! Now Sierra is a woman on a mission, and usually that mission involves keeping up with Brother. Above is a photo of her being a little monkey on our local pocket park playground; a playground that she has completely mastered independently. Last week I was actually off Tuesday evening to be able to go along to Thayden's baseball practice and Sierra took me to the playground where his practice was at the elementary school. She likewise had those steps and slides mastered, in fact, she was very proud of herself for being able to climb all the way up the 6 foot slide. If you try to object ("Sierra, slides are for going down, not up. Please use the stairs") she gives you a big fat grin and scurries up the slide a little faster. If you interject by removing her from the slide she throws an insta-tantrum with screaming the whole baseball team can hear across the field.

Sunday I took Thayden and Sierra swimming. Two very independent kids who both have no fear and in their heads think they can swim, and one overtired momma getting over a virus = exhaustion and near-drowning events on all accounts, BUT also an excellent time. Thayden is getting really good at swimming again, but because he always swims in the deep end he gets tired easily. Sierra loves jumping in, going under, and splashing. Unfortunately Sierra needs to have the strabismus surgery again next week which means she cannot swim for over a month in public pools because of the risk of infection. Bummer that it's the middle of the summer with 90 degree days!Sierra's 15 month physical - 18.2 lbs. :)

Thayden giving Sierra hugs; I love it when they are sweet with each other. :)

Daddy and Sierra on a recent hiking trip on a chilly/rainy day in the mountains, but everyone including Sierra, loved it!
