11 months old!

Sierra is now 11 months old and goodness she has sure developed her own personality! She knows what she wants and does her best to communicate that to us (especially when we get it wrong!) Most of the time she is happy and busy, adaptable to new environments and changes in her schedule, and charming. Although she got pretty sick this past month with both croup then bronchiolitis, she has thankfully fully recovered and back to her feisty self.

Here's a summary of what she is doing these days:

- She is now walking confidently around the house, crawling up stairs, and stooping to retrieve dropped objects (or scraps of food that has ended up on the floor.)
- She says "mama", "dada", "na-na" for her nuka (pacifier), "ba" for bottle, "wa" for water, "yes" (inconsistently), and will sometimes imitate the noises we make.
- She can sign "more" but doesn't consistently do "all done" yet. She waves bye bye, plays peek-a-boo, and claps. If someone says "good job!" she gets a big smile and starts clapping.
- She loves her brother and even when he is rough (90% of the time) she comes back for more. She will "scold" him by shaking her pointer finger at him and jabbering at him, it's pretty cute.
- She loves to eat, but she is kind of finicky. No baby food, except baby yogurt and the organic pouches are accepted. She has refused all but 2 bottles per day (morning and night) for the last 5 days. She wants to drink from a regular cup but always ends up inhaling and then having a coughing fit. Table food with spice is her preference, especially if she can feed herself.
- She can sleep through the night but ever since she was sick she is in this habit of waking up between 4-5:30 demanding food. Ugh, anytime she wants to get over that would be fine by us!
- She loves taking a bath . Multiple times a day she walks into the bathroom and pounds on the tub and when you come she points into the tub with a smile on her face and says "ehh". She gets giddy and squeals when you start the water.
- She also has shown interest in the potty (the bathroom is a big hit for babies I guess). She even went a BM on the toilet the other day and was pretty proud of herself. Too bad we're too busy to consistently potty train her now since she is interested...we have to wait until she is more verbal and can let us know when she has to go!
- She loves toys that have music, she'll know which buttons to press and start dancing even before the music starts. She's got the bob and the head shake down.
- She hates her carseat and protests whenever we put her in it. I think this is the one area where Thayden was better behaved, he would instantly fall asleep in the carseat while Sierra will scream and scream, and even when she stops she still sits there with a frown and whimpers.
- She isn't a fan of the cold weather. When we bundled her in her snowsuit she didn't last very long at all. (Perhaps she takes after her mother.)
- She loves people. She's not a fan of strangers right away but you can win her over with a little time and showing her something interesting.

  1. So cute!
I can't wait to see the "1 Year Old" post, which I'm sure must be coming to this blog soon! (...unless intern year is currently delivering the smackdown, which would be totally understandable, too.)

    Take care,
    sarah
