Catch up

I'm a couple weeks behind on updating our blog...and this is supposed to be an easy-schedule month! That doesn't bode well for the challenging months ahead!

In any case, here's some photos and commentary to catch up to this past weekend.

Thayden got a new bed and he loves it. The loft is great for storage of all his things to maximize the space in his relatively small bedroom and of course the "cave" underneith the loft is a big hit.

2 weekends ago Troy's folks visited us and we went down to the Springs area and explored the Garden of the Gods and rode the cogwheel train to the top of Pike's Peak. Some of the photos were taken with their camera but here are a few we got on Troy's iphone.

The thunderstorms in Denver are excellent - like a good storm in MN only more frequent here (daily for awhile!) It is often raining and sunny at the same time, and we have seen several beautiful rainbows from our yard. Here is a double full rainbow (couldn't get all of it on camera.)
All the photos below are from our 2nd camping trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. This first photo pretty much describes Thayden's feelings about camping, hiking, and the mountains (and this just a couple hours after leaving the house at 5:30am!)

We drove into Estes after setting up camp and taking a hike on our first day so Thayden and Troy could get a hair cut. The barber was a little nervous about using the scissors on Thayden so he had lots of long hairs left around his ears. Oh well.

And this is the new stroller we got - a Joovy Ultralight. I LOVE it! Thayden can sit or stand in the back but it is much smaller and more versatile than a regular double stroller. And super light - like 16 lbs. Troy and I were in a battle for weeks because Troy was not convinced we needed it...and just when I thought I had lost I pulled into the garage one day and there it was! What a nice surprise! And speaking of new wheels...I also got a new bike (pictures to come another time.) It is a hybrid and I have rode it to work every day this week!
And now more pictures of the important stuff: hiking and camping continued.
Sierra loves camping just as much as Thayden.

Check out this view...love it love it love it!
Sierra is now eating some veggies and fruits. Fruits were a new addition this week and she LOVES them.

Thayden completed his activity workbook and earned himself a Junior Ranger badge. Here are a few pics of him getting his badge.

We bought a backpack that carries Thayden in and tried it out for the first time on this trip - works great!
This would have been a great family photo in front of the mountain lake with lily pads, but the lighting is pretty bad.

This family photo is excellent though! :)
Thayden is fearless. Cliffs are no match for him.

And that's all I have for now! It was Sierra's SIX MONTH birthday today! I will have to do a new entry to give an update on how she is doing so stay tuned!

  1. I have to admit, we're a little jealous of all the fun you guys are having! ANd your new stroller! I'm longing for one of those! Can you clip a carseat into it?
