Colorado Vacation - Post #1

We had a great vacation the beginning of July after a draining PICU month for me.  We started out by a 5 hour drive to Crested Butte, CO, stopping at a cute little family restaurant for lunch on the 4th of July.  My mom, Mike and Ti came out for the trip as well.  Everyone was praying for rain in Colorado because of all the wildfires across the state - well, within 2 minutes of getting our food outside it started pouring!  It was welcome, just maybe not at that exact moment.  Little did we know it was a prequel to the rest of our camping trip which was predominately wet.

We stayed at a great hotel in Mt Crested Butte that we would definitely go back to.  However, the fireworks were canceled because of the fire ban AND it was still pouring rain so the live band was moved to a small indoor venue (still good though!)  The next morning we took a ski lift to the top of mt Crested Butte and walked around a bit and enjoyed the beautiful views.  Here are some pics from the top.

After the hike we needed to grab some lunch and head out camping.  The kids ate in the back of the truck while we were waiting for food at this gas station.

We drove 18 miles (about an hour though) outside of Crested Butte to our campsite at Lost Lake.

Our first real hike of our trip was Three Lakes Trail that conveniently started right at our campground.  So after a rainy night (and unfortunately no campfire because of the fire ban) we set out on our hike.  So beautiful!!! These pictures do not do it justice.

I have many more pictures but had to narrow it down!  This was a great place and we would definitely go back!  I'll post another blog with the rest of our vacation when I can.
