Thayden's first race and Blues & Brews

This Saturday the folks in our church organized an awesome Kids for Kits 1 mile race at our neighborhood park.  The money raised from the fundraiser is going to purchase the supplies for healthcare kits to send to healthcare workers in Africa.  I took some pictures while we were hanging out waiting for the kids race to start.

Thayden tried his first bob for apples.

And he was successful (with a little help from his hands)!  And then it was time for the Kindergarten through 4th grader race.  Thayden technically is only 4 and the next heat was the preschool/family/stroller walk/race, but Thayden wanted to run with the big kids.

And their off!  Troy and I were pretty worried he wouldn't make it very far and would fall to the ground crying when the big kids ran ahead of him because he melts down any time anyone beats him at anything.  So we went to the half way point and waited for him.
He made it up to the 1/2 way point and Troy tried to see if Thayden wanted him to run with, but Thayden just scowled at him.  You can see him below running between the trees.

And around the corner, headed to the finish line!

1 whole mile!  Way to go Thayden!  He would sprint, then walk, then sprint, then walk.  Maybe we should start him on a training program for the marines :) Then it was time for some art work.
After Kids for Kits we met my cousin Shannon, Seth and Jessica at our house for some lunch before heading our to a Brews and Blues festival.  Here is Jessica's documentary after we were there for a couple hours.

Then we headed back home, ate some dinner, and hung out with Shannon, Seth & Jessica.  Thayden constantly talks about playing with Jessica.  We need to do more fun things with these guys!
