July happenings

July started out busy and eventful and then slowed down for some relaxing time at home.  I worked the second weekend in July (both Sat and Sun) so Troy and the kids went to the zoo, Home Depot, and did some chores along with a lot of play time.  The next weekend Troy's parents came for a visit so we have a few pictures to post from their trip.

On Saturday we tried to go on a hike in RMNP, but alas we were far too late to get a parking spot where we needed to.  We settled for a picnic and a short jaunt along the river with some pretty views but not very desirable trail conditions.

We then went in to Estes Park for some ice cream, and as always the water was a big attraction and the kids played in town for at least an hour before we decided to head home.  We then went swimming in our local neighborhood pool until closing time (no pictures).
Saturday night Troy and I left the kids with the grandparents and went to run some errands - aka a date!  After spending more money than needed for one little bag (that always happens at REI), we went out to a pizzeria which was so great!

Sunday after church we went to the zoo.  It was way too hot so we didn't last very long.  But animals are always a hit with the kids.

Thayden has also been in swimming lessons the month of July, however he has only been able to have a couple of lessons thus far because so many have been canceled secondary to thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening.  Tonight he was the thunder and lightening started right as his lesson was ending so at least he got some swimming in!

Other happenings in July:
 - Thayden learned how to ride bike without training wheels (see previous post).  Word has it that he also has a girlfriend at school.  He has been going to sports camp every morning for the past week and loved it so he is also going this week.  But alas, his GF came back from her vacation yesterday so this morning he adamantly tells both mommy and daddy that he has to go to school, not Sports Camp.  I don't think so buddy.  What are we going to do when he's a teenager? Maybe girls will have coodies then.
 - Sierra has learned all of her body parts (and body parts on other people) including head, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, teeth, hands, tummy, and toes.  She also says about 15 different words and several phrases that you can interpret with little imagination including "Guy! Where are you? Guy?", "I love you", "night-night", "go outside", and "help me."  For some reason, she calls Thayden "Guy", we can't figure out why.  She also goes BM and sometimes potty on the potty, but we still make her wear a diaper usually.  Anyway, she's a super smart, feisty 17 month old!
 - Troy and I decided I am going to do Endocrinology!  I am very excited about this and now have to start working on getting my fellowship application together. (It never ends.)

That is all the updates for now.  We're hoping to nab a campsite this weekend but we'll see how early we can get out of the house Saturday morning!
